West of Love

West of Love

Be careful
when opening your heart
and your head
the future You
may consist of materials
of unknown origin
sandwiched between
the committee of limited faith
and the medicine
that heals from within
take a peek at the saber-toothed tiger
seduced to the tar pits
reaching for a drink at the crossroads
one blanched paw at a time
cherished as the residue
of an ice age
behind the glass
it isn’t wrong
everyone knows you can’t
re-cork champagne,
don’t they?
